Frozen margaritas are my absolute favorite but I’m not going to lie, a margarita on the rocks is less of a hassle. Trying to keep a steady stream of frozen margaritas coming out when hosting a large group of friends, family or guests can be a hot mess express. Opting for a few pitchers of margaritas to pour on the rocks is a major win to keep the host stress-free and the guests with a margarita in hand at all times.
When it comes to making a margarita, tequila is a MUST. The higher the quality of the tequila, the better the margarita will be. My personal favorite brand tequila is 1800 Silver Tequila. I get mine from Binny’s.

How To Make A Super Smooth Frozen Margarita
For any type of blended or frozen drink or treat, texture is a huge sensory element that doesn’t go unnoticed. Arguably, texture directly plays a role in how good a blended/frozen drink is. Whether it’s a shake, smoothie or a good ol’ margarita, have you ever paid attention to how thick or thin you like it? Or maybe how creamy you like it? Personally, I like a thick, smooth and creamy frozen marg with a sugared rim (unpopular opinion maybe, what is your preference?). Whether you prefer a salted or sugared rim, I think most people would agree that a chunky frozen margarita is not at the top of the preference list.
If you’re at home and looking to achieve that restaurant-style frozen margarita texture, there are a few things you can do. The secret to making a thick and smooth frozen margarita is to use frozen fruit rather than all ice. Not only will it pack in more flavor with the use of frozen fruit, but frozen fruit will blend better than ice does. For this recipe, using as many frozen peaches as possible will be your best bet!
Another way to achieve a super smooth margarita texture is to use just enough liquid to allow the margarita to blend, but not too much that the liquid separates from the frozen mixture. If you prefer your margaritas to be on the thick side like I do, I would recommend going easy on the juice and using a heavy hand with the frozen peaches.
Last but not least, the type of blender you use will play a large role in how thick, blended, and smooth your margarita comes out. Using a high speed blender and one with a tamper tool makes for a mean margarita. Trust me, there’s a big difference when it comes to blenders! I’ve tried making a quick margarita for myself with a single serving blender like a nutribullet, but I noticed the large blenders really make a difference in the outcome of achieving the right margarita texture.
Tips For Serving
Bring out the tequila and the party is ready to start. When you’re looking to have a good time and enjoy sipping on a fruity drink, a margarita becomes your best friend.
If you’re getting ready to serve these for a party (whether it’s Cinco De Mayo or just a warm summer day), here are my favorite ways to complete the margarita experience.
- Serve them in margarita glasses to get the full margarita effect! Nothing feels more legit than drinking out of a proper glass.
- Use a lime and grab some salt or sugar to rim each glass prior to serving. Make sure to add the rims before you pour the margaritas in!
- Dress the glasses up with a slice of fruit on the side. It’s more than just a decoration if its edible and can be squeezed into the drink for an extra punch of fruity flavor!
- Serve it with chips, salsa and allllll the dips. I mean, there really is no better option than to pair a margarita with some mexican cuisine! Guac, queso, nachos, you name it! Drinks and appetizers are always a match made in heaven.
- If you’re having more than just a few marg-lovers over, save yourself the hassle of blending oh so many margaritas and serve these on the rocks instead! Fill a pitcher with all the ingredients and provide glasses with ice for everyone to pour the margarita over! Did someone say unlimited hassle-free refills?
Margs Featuring Peaches!
Let’s be real, margaritas only get better when paired with fruit. We all have our favorite flavors. You know, the one where if it’s listed on a drink menu we can’t help but order it. My favorite fruit flavor happens to be peaches (bet you didn’t see that one coming ha!). Seriously, any time I see peach flavored anything in the store or as I’m grabbing a bite to eat, I can’t help but get excited and want to try it! What’s your favorite fruit when it comes to adult bevy’s?
If you’re opting for fresh peaches to freeze, the best time to get them is between June and the end of August. This is when peaches reach their full potential. Not only are peaches sweet and delicious, they are the also filled with both vitamin A and C. I think that’s pretty neat.
How To Make Frozen Peach Margaritas
Gather all your ingredients and add them to a large, strong blender. Once everything has been added, blend the ingredients until the mixture is smooth. You may have to use a spoon or a tamper tool (one that comes with the blender) to give it a quick mix if it all gets stuck trying to blend. Finally, pour into your sugar or salted rim glasses and serve immediately. Cheers!!
